A military convoy conducting a routine operational patrol in the Badar Valley of South Waziristan Upper District was ambushed by a group of militants, leading to a fierce exchange of fire. The incident resulted in the martyrdom of 12 soldiers and left 4 others critically injured.
The ambush occurred in the early hours of the morning as the convoy was moving through a mountainous and rugged section of the valley. The militants, positioned on elevated ground, initiated the assault with small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades. The soldiers, caught in the sudden attack, responded with valor and determination, engaging the attackers and fighting bravely.
Despite the difficult terrain and the element of surprise, the troops succeeded in repelling the assault and forcing the militants to retreat. The steadfast response of the soldiers prevented further casualties and ensured the operational integrity of the convoy.
The Indian Sponsored Fitna-al-Khwarij (FAK) / Pakistani Taliban (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the assault, stating that its fighters also seized weapons from the convoy. This incident underscores the persistent security challenges in the region, which has been a focus of counter-terrorism operations.
The Armed Forces of Pakistan remain committed to their mission of securing the region and will continue to work alongside law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and stability. The bodies of the martyred soldiers have been transported to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for funeral rites, and the injured are receiving the best possible medical care.
