Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, visited Bannu today to review the security situation and participate in high-level deliberations on counter-terrorism operations.

According to security sources, the Prime Minister and the Army Chief attended an important high-level meeting focused on Pakistan’s ongoing fight against terrorism. Senior civil and military officials were present, where comprehensive strategies were reviewed to further strengthen security measures in the region.

During the visit, the Prime Minister and the Army Chief also attended the funeral prayers of 12 valiant martyrs who laid down their lives in the recent counter-terrorism operation in South Waziristan. Both leaders paid rich tribute to the courage and sacrifices of the fallen soldiers, emphasizing that their supreme sacrifice would never be forgotten.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s unwavering resolve to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan. He stressed that the state would give a fitting and decisive response to every act of terror, and that there would be no ambiguity, compromise, or retreat in the national resolve to secure peace.

“The blood of our martyrs will not go in vain. The fight against terrorism will continue until the last miscreant is eliminated and peace is permanently restored in every corner of the country,” the Prime Minister stated.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated the Pakistan Army’s full commitment to defending the nation against all internal and external threats. He underscored that the sacrifices of the martyrs serve as a source of strength for the armed forces and the nation alike.

The Prime Minister extended condolences to the families of the martyrs, assuring them that the nation stands united with them in their grief. He also directed the authorities to ensure that the families of the martyrs are fully supported and honored for their immense sacrifices.

The visit comes at a time when Pakistan continues its intensified counter-terrorism campaign in tribal districts, aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and ensuring long-term stability.
