SPADA-2000

Aug 27, 2025

The SPADA-2000 is a highly sophisticated, all-weather, low-to-medium altitude air defense system of Italian origin. It is an improved and modernized version of the original SPADA system, designed to provide comprehensive point and area defense for a variety of critical assets, including airbases and military installations. The SPADA-2000 is a modular system, with a typical battery consisting of a Master Control Post (MCP), which houses the surveillance and fire control radar, and up to four firing sections, each with a six-missile launcher. The system’s primary weapon is the Aspide 2000 missile, a semi-active radar homing missile with a range of up to 25 kilometers and a flight speed of Mach 4. The Aspide 2000 is capable of engaging a wide range of aerial threats, including fighter jets, attack helicopters, cruise missiles, and anti-radiation missiles. A key feature of the SPADA-2000 is its advanced radar suite, which includes a 3D surveillance radar and a multi-function fire control radar. This combination allows the system to detect, track, and engage up to four targets simultaneously. The system’s high mobility, short reaction time, and multi-target engagement capability make it a formidable air defense platform, providing a reliable shield for high-value targets.
