ISLAMABAD – August 14, 2025 – In a landmark ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir was officially conferred the rank of Field Marshal. The historic event was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, federal ministers, and senior civil and military officials, celebrating the distinguished career of one of Pakistan’s most respected military leaders.
The government approved General Munir’s promotion in recognition of his strategic leadership during the highly successful Operation Bunyānum Marsoos. Under his command, the Pakistan Army demonstrated unmatched professionalism and foresight, decisively neutralizing security threats while restoring stability in critical areas.
