Pakistan Air Force Launches Extensive Flood Relief Mission in Gilgit-Baltistan

Aug 27, 2025

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has launched a comprehensive flood relief operation in Gilgit-Baltistan, providing urgent humanitarian assistance to families devastated by recent flooding. Operating in extreme weather and the region’s mountainous terrain, the PAF has deployed both air and ground assets to deliver aid and rescue stranded civilians, reaffirming its role as a protector of the nation in both peace and crisis.

As part of the ongoing effort, a PAF C-130 aircraft successfully airlifted seven tons of dry rations, daily essentials, and life-saving medicines from PAF Base Nur Khan to Gilgit. These critical supplies will be distributed to isolated valleys cut off due to damaged road links, in close coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and local authorities.

Humanitarian Evacuation and Relief Supplies

In parallel, PAF personnel evacuated 75 individuals trapped in flood-hit areas, ensuring their safe relocation to secure zones. The simultaneous evacuation and supply drops highlight the Air Force’s precision, agility, and capacity to execute complex humanitarian missions in some of the most difficult operational environments.

Sustained Nationwide Relief Efforts

The Gilgit-Baltistan mission is part of a wider national emergency relief campaign led by Pakistan’s Armed Forces. In the coming days, PAF aircraft and ground units will continue delivering essential supplies—including food, medicines, shelter, and medical care—to vulnerable communities across multiple flood-affected provinces. These efforts complement the work of the Army and Navy, ensuring a whole-of-force response to the crisis.

Reaffirming National Resolve

The swift and determined actions of the Pakistan Air Force have provided critical relief and renewed hope for affected families. The operation underscores the unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s Armed Forces to stand with the people during natural disasters, safeguarding lives and alleviating suffering. True to its tradition of service beyond the call of duty, the PAF remains at the forefront of national resilience, demonstrating once again that it is not only a shield in defense but also a lifeline in adversity.
