Security forces successfully repelled a major terrorist assault on a police training facility in Ratta Kulachi, Dera Ismail Khan (D.I. Khan), following a fierce six-hour firefight on Friday night. The prompt and courageous response by police personnel thwarted an attempt by a heavily armed group to inflict mass casualties.

The coordinated attack began with a suicide bomber detonating an explosives-laden truck at the main gate of the training center, causing a breach in the boundary wall and resulting in the immediate martyrdom of one police officer. Immediately following the blast, militants, dressed in uniform and armed with heavy weapons, attempted to storm the compound where approximately 200 recruits and trainers were present.

The police and supporting paramilitary units engaged the terrorists in a sustained exchange of fire, demonstrating exceptional gallantry and professionalism under heavy assault, which included automatic weapons and grenades. Their decisive action prevented the terrorists from penetrating deeper into the facility.

Sacrifice and Successful Neutralization

The operation resulted in the elimination of six terrorists. Security forces successfully recovered suicide vests, explosives, weapons, and ammunition from the neutralized assailants. However, the nation mourns the loss of seven brave police personnel who were martyred in the line of duty, with 13 others sustaining injuries.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has offered the highest commendation for the martyred officers, praising their unwavering bravery and ultimate sacrifice in defending the training facility and its personnel.

The successful clearance of the compound underscores the preparedness and resolute commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to neutralizing the evolving threat of terrorism. Such cowardly attacks only serve to strengthen the nation’s resolve against all elements seeking to destabilize the country. Counter-terrorism operations remain ongoing across the region to ensure peace and security.
