Jordan’s King Abdullah II Visits GIDS, and Tilla Ranges

His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a high-level delegation of Jordanian civil and military officials, visited Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS) in Rawalpindi on Sunday, where he was received by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI(M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and senior Pakistani officials.

During the visit, King Abdullah II received a comprehensive briefing on GIDS’s organizational structure, advanced capabilities, and diverse product portfolio. The presentation highlighted Pakistan’s strides in indigenous defence production, cutting-edge technological innovations, and promising avenues for expanded bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Later, the royal delegation proceeded to the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, graced by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Industry, Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev. Distinguished guests witnessed a dynamic joint fire and manoeuvre exercise demonstrating multi-domain operations, including conventional and aerial firepower, coordinated manoeuvres, spectrum warfare, and multi-purpose drone integrations in various roles.

King Abdullah II commended the exceptional standards of training, professionalism, and operational readiness exhibited by the participating troops and aircrews, underscoring the shared commitment to regional security.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s profound respect and affection for His Majesty and the Jordanian people, noting the visit as a testament to enduring friendship, mutual trust, and a collective pursuit of peace and development.

COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast dedication to bolstering military-to-military ties with Jordan, aiming to realize a joint vision for a stable, prosperous region.

In a special honour, King Abdullah II earlier conferred the Order of the Military Merit of First Degree upon the COAS, recognizing his exemplary service and pivotal contributions to deepening Jordan-Pakistan defence collaboration.

This engagement during the two-day state visit marks a significant milestone in fortifying the historic fraternal bonds between Pakistan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, paving the way for enhanced strategic partnership.
