CJCSC General Sahir Shamshad Bids Farewell to COAS FM Asim Munir

Rawalpindi – November 26, 2025 – In a ceremony steeped in military tradition, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza paid a farewell visit to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, General Sahir laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and received a ceremonial Guard of Honour, marking the end of his distinguished tenure as Pakistan’s top uniformed strategic leader.

During the meeting, the COAS warmly praised his outgoing colleague, stating that General Sahir Shamshad Mirza’s exemplary leadership, strategic foresight, and dedicated service… played a pivotal role in enhancing tri-services synergy, strengthening joint operational preparedness, and advancing Pakistan’s national security objectives at the strategic level. Field Marshal Asim Munir also lauded General Sahir’s contributions to regional stability, military diplomacy, and forging stronger defence partnerships with friendly nations.
In response, the outgoing CJCSC expressed deep gratitude to the COAS and the Armed Forces for their unwavering support throughout his illustrious career.
The farewell underscores a smooth leadership transition at the apex of Pakistan’s military hierarchy while highlighting the deep mutual respect between two of the country’s most senior officers. General Sahir Shamshad Mirza retires after decades of exemplary service to the nation.
