A high-level defense delegation led by Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Chief of the Air Staff, Bangladesh Air Force (BAF), called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), at Air Headquarters, Islamabad today.
Ceremonial Reception
Upon arrival, the visiting dignitary was accorded a warm welcome and presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Air Force. The visit marks a significant milestone in the defense relations between the two brotherly nations.
Strategic Cooperation and Training
During the one-on-one meeting, both Air Chiefs discussed a wide range of topics aimed at strengthening operational cooperation and institutional synergy. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing a comprehensive training framework to the BAF, covering basic to advanced flying and specialized technical courses.
A key highlight of the discussion was the fast-tracked delivery of Super Mushshak trainer aircraft to Bangladesh, accompanied by a complete support ecosystem to ensure long-term operational readiness.
Modernization and JF-17 Discussions
The Bangladeshi Air Chief expressed keen interest in benefiting from the PAF’s vast operational expertise and combat record. Detailed discussions were held regarding:
- JF-17 Thunder: Potential procurement and induction of the multi-role fighter into the BAF.
- Maintenance & Support: Assistance in the maintenance and life-cycle support of the BAF’s existing fleet.
- Air Defence Integration: Collaboration on the integration of air defense radar systems to enhance Bangladesh’s air surveillance capabilities.
Visit to Technological Hubs
The delegation visited several state-of-the-art facilities, including the National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre (NIOC), PAF Cyber Command, and the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park (NASTP). The visitors were briefed on PAF’s niche capabilities in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), cyber warfare, space, and unmanned aerial systems.
A Shared Resolve
Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan praised the PAF’s rapid modernization and its leap into the sixth generation of aerospace technology. Both leaders concluded the meeting with a shared resolve to deepen defense cooperation and transform the historical ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh into a long-term strategic partnership.
