The first operation took place in the Bannu district, where troops engaged a militant hideout. Following an intense exchange of fire, eight terrorists were killed. A second operation in the Kurram district resulted in five more militants being “sent to hell.” These operations are part of a broader, relentless counter-terrorism strategy authorized by the federal apex committee on the National Action Plan to dismantle foreign-sponsored networks.
This latest success follows a year of intensified security efforts. In a recent briefing, military leadership revealed that over 75,000 intelligence-based operations were conducted throughout 2025 to curb a 34% rise in militant violence. While most of the 5,397 terror incidents reported last year occurred in KP and Balochistan, the military emphasized that “sanitization operations” would continue until the threat is completely wiped out. Both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have lauded the professionalism of the forces in these recent engagements.
