Pakistan Foils Major Terrorist Incursion in Bajaur; 12 Khwarij Eliminated

In a display of resolute courage and swift military response, Pakistan’s security forces successfully thwarted a large-scale terrorist assault on a Joint Check Post in Bajaur District on Monday, February 16. While the attack resulted in the tragic martyrdom of 11 security personnel and one innocent civilian, the operational excellence of the troops led to the total neutralization of the 12-man terrorist squad belonging to the Indian-sponsored Fitna al Khwarij (TTP).

The attack commenced late Monday night when a heavily armed group of Khwarij attempted to breach the security perimeter of the Joint Check Post.

• Tactical Repulsion: Alert sentries immediately engaged the assailants, preventing a direct breach. As the attackers attempted to flee, they were pinned down by precision fire.

• The Suicide Ramming: In a final act of desperation, the terrorists rammed an explosive-laden vehicle (VBIED) into the perimeter wall. The massive blast caused a partial collapse of the post’s infrastructure, leading to the shahadat of 11 valiant soldiers.

• Civilian Collateral: The shockwave from the explosion tore through nearby residential buildings, resulting in the heartbreaking martyrdom of a young girl and leaving seven other civilians—including women and children—wounded.

Relentless Counter-Terrorism: Operation “Azm-e-Istehkam”

The response follows the federal government’s “Azm-e-Istehkam” (Resolve for Stability) vision, a comprehensive counter-terrorism campaign approved by the Federal Apex Committee.

• Sanitization Ongoing: Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have cordoned off the Malangi and Mamond areas to eliminate any remaining remnants of the proxy group.

• Leadership Tribute: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari issued separate statements honoring the sacrifices, noting that such “cowardly acts” only serve to strengthen the national resolve to wipe out foreign-supported militancy.

The Proxy War Context

Official military circles have reiterated that the attackers belong to the “Indian Proxy” Fitna al Khwarij, emphasizing that the uptick in violence along the Afghan border is fueled by external sponsors seeking to destabilize Pakistan’s internal peace. The military’s media wing (ISPR) underscored that the blood of the martyrs further reinforces the state’s commitment to safeguarding the motherland at all costs.
