During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the progress of Pakistan’s ongoing mediatory efforts to help achieve sustainable peace between the United States and Iran.
Both expressed satisfaction over the de-escalation achieved so far and emphasised the importance of maintaining the current ceasefire by all parties involved. They appreciated the restraint shown by both sides and reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to continue facilitating dialogue and providing full support to help reach a peacefully negotiated settlement.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the efforts of all parties engaged in the peace process and wished them success. He also renewed his invitation to the arriving US and Iranian delegations, assuring them of Pakistan’s highest level of support and hospitality during their stay in Islamabad.
The meeting underscores Pakistan’s active diplomatic role in trying to bring the ongoing conflict to a peaceful conclusion.
