A high-profile terrorist commander carrying a bounty of Rs 6 million was killed during a targeted intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted jointly by the Bannu District Police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), official sources confirmed.
Bannu District Police Officer (DPO) Captain (retd) Muhammad Furqan Bilal confirmed the killing of the terrorist commander, identified as Naseer Muhammad, alias Geedarh.
The joint operation was launched in response to precise intelligence reports indicating the presence and movement of high-value targets. Operatives from the Bannu Police and CTD carried out targeted actions in Akbar Ali Khan Kili, Sada Khel, Sadarwan, and surrounding areas falling within the jurisdiction of the Domel Police Station.
According to a police statement issued under DPO Bilal’s supervision, active search, surveillance, and clearance operations remain underway across the specified sectors. In parallel, security protocols have been significantly reinforced across various key points in Bannu township and the broader Domel area to ensure public safety and prevent potential fallout.
The successful action in Domel follows heightened counter-terrorism activity across the district. Earlier in the week, security forces, CTD, and district police completed a separate joint operation in the Miryan police station jurisdiction, neutralizing an unidentified militant and apprehending 10 suspects. Additional recent actions in Bannu’s Jani Khel area and KP’s Hangu district have similarly resulted in the elimination of key terrorist figures.
District police authorities stated that comprehensive details regarding the overall progress and outcomes will be shared officially upon the formal completion of the ongoing clearance operation.
