Field Marshal Asim Munir and Service Chiefs Pay Tribute on 7th Anniversary of Operation Swift Retort

On the 7th anniversary of Operation Swift Retort, the leadership of Pakistan’s Armed Forces has issued a joint tribute to the courage, professionalism, and ultimate sacrifices of the personnel who defended the nation’s sovereignty during the historic air battle of February 27, 2019.

The tribute was led by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) & Chief of Defence Forces (CDF); Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), T Bt, Chief of the Naval Staff; and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, Chief of the Air Staff.

Restoring the Strategic Balance

The military leadership recalled that Operation Swift Retort was a decisive and calibrated response to India’s unprovoked aggression. The operation not only showcased the operational excellence and combat readiness of the Pakistan Armed Forces but also served as a critical turning point that restored strategic balance in the region.

“Operation Swift Retort remains a testament to our resolve. We proved to the world that any challenge to Pakistan’s sovereignty, under any pretext, will be met with a response that is swift, professional, and overwhelming,” the joint statement noted.

The Field Marshal and Service Chiefs reiterated their unwavering commitment to national security. They emphasized that the lessons of 2019—and the subsequent successes of Marka-e-Haq in 2025—have further refined the military’s operational doctrine, transitioning the forces into a multi-domain, technologically advanced shield for the nation.
