The participants of the 8th Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW-8), a comprehensive eleven-day program focused on enhancing maritime awareness, today visited Naval Headquarters (NHQ) in Islamabad. The high-profile delegation interacted with Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS).
The delegation comprised a diverse group of key national stakeholders, including parliamentarians, politicians, bureaucrats, senior armed forces officers, media representatives, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and academia.

Naval Chief’s Address
In his interaction with the participants, Admiral Naveed Ashraf underscored the critical nature of the maritime domain for Pakistan’s prosperity and security. The Admiral highlighted:
- Emerging Maritime Challenges: A detailed analysis of the evolving threats and opportunities in the contemporary maritime security landscape.
- Blue Economy: Emphasizing the immense, untapped potential of Pakistan’s Blue Economy as a vital pillar for future national economic growth.
- Deterrence and Regional Peace: Dilating upon the Pakistan Navy’s role in maintaining impregnable deterrence through operations like Marka-e-Haq, and its significant contributions to regional peace and stability via active participation in the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) and Regional Maritime Security Patrols (RMSP).

Workshop Focus and Acknowledgment
Prior to the interaction, participants received detailed briefings on contemporary maritime threats, Pakistan Navy’s initiatives for maritime domain awareness (MDA), and efforts directed towards coastal community development.
The 11-day workshop aims to deepen the understanding of maritime security and the geopolitical significance of the Indian Ocean, providing a crucial platform for deliberation on key national maritime challenges and opportunities.
The delegation collectively acknowledged the pivotal role of MARSEW-8 in raising national maritime consciousness and its contribution toward sound maritime policy formulation. They expressed high appreciation for the Pakistan Navy’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests and ensuring security across the region.
