Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) & Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), interacted today with the participants of the 18th National Workshop on Balochistan at General Headquarters (GHQ).
The workshop, attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, focused on the strategic significance of Balochistan and the ongoing multi-sectoral initiatives aimed at the province’s socio-economic uplift.
Balochistan as the Pivot of National Prosperity
During his address, the COAS & CDF paid rich tribute to the resilience and unwavering patriotism of the people of Balochistan. He underscored that the province remains central to Pakistan’s future prosperity. He lauded the collaborative efforts of the federal and provincial governments, emphasizing that a “people-centric approach” is the cornerstone of unlocking Balochistan’s economic potential.
Countering Propaganda and Vested Interests
The COAS & CDF highlighted the vital role of civil society in the modern era, particularly in debunking malicious propaganda. He urged for the rejection of vested political agendas that hinder progress, stating that the province’s future must be defined by long-term prosperity rather than short-term political gains.
Security and Territorial Integrity
Addressing the security landscape, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was unequivocal regarding external interference:
- Proxy Warfare: He remarked that Indian-sponsored proxies continue to attempt to propagate violence and disrupt development. He reaffirmed that these inimical designs will be thwarted through stern and decisive actions by Security Forces.
- Deterrence: The COAS & CDF emphasized that any violation of Pakistan’s territorial integrity—whether direct or indirect—will be met with a firm and overwhelming response.
Commitment to Stability
“The Pakistan Armed Forces remain steadfast in their commitment to protecting the lives and well-being of our citizens,” the COAS & CDF stated. He concluded the session with a candid interactive Q&A, providing detailed insights into the military’s supportive role in regional peace and sustainable development.
