Pakistan Navy Flotilla Concludes Visit to Muscat, Oman

A Pakistan Navy (PN) Flotilla, comprising the Sail Training Ship PNS RAH NAWARD, PNS MADADGAR, and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) Ship PMSS KASHMIR, has successfully completed a scheduled port visit to Port Sultan Qaboos, Muscat.

The visit serves as a testament to the enduring maritime ties and fraternal relations between Pakistan and the Sultanate of Oman. Upon arrival at the port, the ships were accorded a warm reception by senior officials of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO).

High-Level Diplomatic Engagements

During the port call, the Mission Commander, accompanied by the Commanding Officers of the respective vessels, engaged in a series of high-level meetings with the naval leadership of Oman. Key engagements included:

  • Acting Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO)
  • Director General of Operations and Plans
  • Commander of the Maritime Security Centre
  • Commander of the Said Bin Sultan Naval Base
  • Commandant of the Sultan Qaboos Naval Academy

These discussions focused on mutual maritime interests, regional security, and further strengthening the bilateral naval cooperation that exists between the two maritime neighbors.

Operational Synergy: Passage Exercise (PASSEX)

To culminate the visit, the Pakistan Navy and PMSA ships conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Royal Navy of Oman Ship KHASAB. The exercise, conducted in Omani waters, was designed to:

  • Enhance tactical interoperability between the two navies.
  • Facilitate shared learning through the bilateral conduct of naval maneuvers.
  • Strengthen the collective capacity to maintain maritime security in the region.

Pakistan and Oman share a rich history of maritime proximity. Frequent dignitary visits, regular port calls, and joint exercises remain a hallmark of the robust defense relationship between the two nations, promoting peace and stability in the Indian Ocean Region.
