Secretary General IMCTC Meets Field Marshal Asim Munir; Counter-Terrorism Collaboration Discussed

Major General Mohammed Bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) & Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CDF), at General Headquarters (GHQ) today.

Strengthening Global Counter-Terrorism Frameworks

The meeting focused on regional security dynamics and the necessity of enhanced cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts. Both leaders reaffirmed a shared commitment to eradicating terrorism and extremism through a multifaceted approach, including:

  • Collaborative Strategies: Developing unified responses to emerging security threats.
  • Intelligence Sharing: Strengthening the exchange of critical information among member states.
  • Capacity Building: Enhancing the tactical and ideological capabilities of partner nations.

Recognition of Pakistan’s Role

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir lauded the IMCTC’s pivotal role in fostering stability and promoting coordinated counter-terrorism initiatives across the Islamic world. In return, Major General Al-Moghedi acknowledged Pakistan’s immense sacrifices and significant contributions to global peace, specifically praising the high professional standards of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

Specialized Training at NUST (Feb 2–6, 2026)

As part of the institutional collaboration, an IMCTC delegation is currently visiting Pakistan from February 2nd to 6th, 2026. The team is conducting a specialized one-week training program at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) titled:

“Re-integration and Rehabilitation of Extremist Elements”

This training underscores the transition toward soft-power strategies in counter-terrorism, focusing on the psychological and social reintegration of formerly radicalized individuals into society.

A Shared Vision for Peace

The meeting concluded with a mutual resolve to further strengthen institutional ties to ensure lasting peace, stability, and security across the region and the wider Islamic world.
