Pakistan Air Force Remembers Flying Officer Waleed Ehsanul Karim Shaheed on 61st Death Anniversary

April 19, 2026 marked the 61st anniversary of the passing of Flying Officer Waleed Ehsanul Karim Shaheed, a dedicated and courageous fighter pilot of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). He made the ultimate sacrifice for his country at just 21 years old.

Born on July 1, 1944, in Harbang, Cox’s Bazar, Flying Officer Karim received his early education at Chittagong Collegiate School. He later distinguished himself as a student at PAF Public School Sargodha, completing his Senior Cambridge in 1961 as a member of the esteemed 5th Entry.

He was commissioned into the PAF on June 22, 1963, as part of the 36th GD(P) Course. His leadership potential was recognized early on, earning him the rank of Wing Under Officer during training. Following his commissioning, he skillfully transitioned to jet aircraft on the T-33 and underwent advanced fighter conversion on the F-86 Sabre. His exceptional skills led to assignments in frontline squadrons, and he later served with the prestigious No. 17 Squadron “The Tigers.”

On April 19, 1965, during the Rann of Kutch conflict, Flying Officer Waleed Ehsanul Karim embraced Shahadat while on an operational mission over the Arabian Sea. Tragically, his remains were never recovered.

Although no grave marks his final resting place, his selfless sacrifice is forever enshrined in the history of the Pakistan Air Force. His story exemplifies youth, unwavering courage, and an unyielding commitment to duty.

The Pakistan Air Force deeply honors the memory of Flying Officer Waleed Ehsanul Karim Shaheed – a brave son of the nation whose legacy continues to inspire generations of air warriors. His dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
