Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited Kasur Sector and the Flood Relief Camp in Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan, to review the prevailing flood situation and ongoing relief efforts.
Focus of the Visit
According to ISPR, “the visit to flood-affected areas of Kasur and Multan focused on enhancing synergy between the civil administration and the military to ensure effective assistance for the affected population.”
- The COAS received a detailed briefing on the ground situation, rescue, and relief measures.
- Chief Secretary Punjab and senior civil administration officials were also present.

Key Message
While interacting with the civil administration, COAS highlighted the importance of good governance and inclusive, people-centric progress. He stressed:
“All necessary measures, including infrastructural development required for protecting the people against the devastations caused by frequent floods, should be expedited. The state cannot afford the loss of precious lives and properties every year.”
Interaction with People & Troops
- The Army Chief met with flood affectees, assuring them of continued support in resettlement and rehabilitation.
- Affectees expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Pakistan Army for timely assistance at a critical juncture.
- He also interacted with troops, Rescue 1122, and police officials engaged in relief work, lauding their high morale and round-the-clock efforts in close coordination with civil administration.
Reconnaissance & Commitment
COAS carried out an aerial reconnaissance of flood-affected areas along Lahore–Kasur and Multan–Jalalpur Pirwala axes to assess the damage and progress of relief operations.
The ISPR added that the Pakistan Army remains fully committed to supporting all initiatives for public welfare, with coordinated civil-military efforts being vital to protecting the people from recurring natural disasters.
