Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), addressed the Passing Out Parade at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul, delivering a highly detailed and powerful message that covered Pakistan’s strategic security posture, economic outlook, and role as a key regional player.
Conventional Deterrence and Firm Warning to India
Addressing the recent intense May 2025 conflict with the neighbouring country, COAS Munir sternly cautioned India’s military leadership, stating emphatically that there was “no space for war in a nuclearised environment.”
He asserted Pakistan’s clear strategic victory during the conflict—referred to as Marka-i-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos—and issued a clear warning against any future provocation:
“We will never be intimidated nor coerced by your rhetoric and shall respond decisively, beyond proportions, to even a minor provocation without any qualms.”
Field Marshal Munir stressed that the onus of ensuing escalations, which may ultimately bear catastrophic consequences for the entire region and beyond, will squarely lie with India. He stated that the enhanced reach and lethality of Pakistan’s weapon systems would “shatter the misconceived immunity of India’s geographic warspace.”
He commended the nation and the armed forces for delivering a swift and decisive blow to the adversary, showcasing professional capability in the conventional domain.
Addressing Cross-Border Terrorism
The COAS forcefully reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering stance on cross-border terrorism, accusing the adversary of using groups referred to as Fitna al-Hind and Fitna al-Khawarij as “hired guns.”
He urged the interim Afghan regime to uphold its commitments to peace and stability:
“The Afghan regime must rein in the proxies who have sanctuaries in Afghanistan and are using Afghan soil to perpetrate heinous attacks inside Pakistan.”
Field Marshal Munir promised that Pakistan’s security forces would never bow to misguided terrorists and asserted that Pakistan would “never lose an inch of this sacred land,” vowing that, “Every state proxy of our neighbour will be razed to dust, God-willing.”
Regional Stabiliser and International Diplomacy
Field Marshal Munir highlighted Pakistan’s emerging role as a “net regional stabiliser” amidst global volatility. He provided details on strengthening diplomatic ties:
- Saudi Arabia: Hailing the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement as a reinforcement of Pakistan-Saudi brotherhood and a step towards regional peace.
- China & USA: Reaffirming the historic “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” with China and noting the “re-energisational and strong and growing relations with the United States of America” as an encouraging development. He praised US President Donald Trump’s personal efforts toward global peace.
- Palestine: Assailing Israel for its “blatant aggression, genocide and forced displacement,” and reaffirming Pakistan’s support for the two-state solution based on pre-1967 war borders, with Al Quds Sharif as its capital.
- Kashmir: Reaffirming Pakistan’s diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle and predicting that India’s “oppression and widespread atrocities” in the valley will eventually end.
National Cohesion and Economic Outlook
The COAS also addressed internal matters, commending the government’s efforts for achieving relative economic stability. He noted that “positive economic indicators” were attracting investments and that “the treasures hidden beneath our land for decades have started to surface as a silver lining for our bright future.”
He underscored the importance of national unity, asserting that the “bond between the people and the armed forces is unshakable.” Field Marshal Munir also cautioned the youth about the digital landscape:
“Your strength will lie in thinking critically and discerning fact from fiction,” he said, urging them to not become “tools of disinformation” proliferating via social media, populist anarchism and social subversion.
The address concluded with warm greetings to the graduating cadets, including those from friendly countries, and an emphasis on the Pakistan Army’s modern defence doctrine, which is predicated on credible deterrence and perpetual readiness.
