Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), is undertaking an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt with a focus on strengthening defense ties and expanding military collaboration between the two longstanding partners.
During the visit, the Army Chief held important meetings with Egypt’s Minister of Defence and Defence Production, General Abdul Maged Saqar, along with the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fatehi. Discussions revolved around shared strategic concerns, evolving regional security dynamics, and ongoing cooperation between the armed forces of both nations. The Field Marshal reiterated that Egypt holds the status of a brotherly country for Pakistan, stressing that enhanced coordination will serve the interests of both peoples and contribute to wider regional peace and stability.
At the Ministry of Defence, the Field Marshal received a warm ceremonial welcome, including a Guard of Honour. He paid homage at the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier and placed floral wreaths at the grave of former Egyptian President Mohamed Anwar Al Sadat, acknowledging his legacy and sacrifices.
COAS also called on His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, at the Al-Azhar headquarters. The Grand Imam shared his insights regarding challenges confronting the Muslim Ummah in the current era. Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized the shared responsibility of Muslim nations to eliminate extremist narratives and reject distorted interpretations of Islam that harm global peace.
The visit reflects the deep-rooted bond between Pakistan and Egypt and signals a resolute commitment to further developing multifaceted defense cooperation for a secure and prosperous region.
