The Army Chief made these remarks during his visit to Peshawar, where he held an interactive session with a Jirga of tribal elders.
Field Marshal Munir emphasized that despite the continued threat of terrorism from across the border, Pakistan has shown restraint and extended diplomatic and economic cooperation to Afghanistan to improve bilateral relations. However, he noted that the Afghan Taliban regime has failed to act against Indian-sponsored terror outfits — Fitna Al Khwarij and Fitna Al Hindustan — and has instead facilitated their operations.
The COAS assured tribal elders that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjoining areas would be cleansed of terrorists and their facilitators. He lauded the tribal communities’ unwavering support to the armed forces during the recent Pakistan-Afghan Taliban standoff and paid tribute to their sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
Tribal elders reaffirmed their full support to Pakistan’s security forces and rejected extremist ideologies, declaring that Fitna Al Khwarij’s narrative holds no acceptance among the tribes.
Later, the Field Marshal was briefed on the security situation, operational readiness, and ongoing counterterrorism operations along the Pak-Afghan border.
