Armed Forces Commemorate 54th Shahadat Anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed (NH)

The leadership of the Armed Forces of Pakistan, including Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces; Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), Chief of the Naval Staff; and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, Chief of the Air Staff, solemnly commemorate the 54th Shahadat anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider.

The nation pays tribute to the immortal heroism and supreme sacrifice of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed, who exemplified the highest ideals of bravery and devotion to duty during the 1971 conflict.

A Testament to Indomitable Spirit

Major Muhammad Akram, while leading a company of the 4 Frontier Force Regiment in the crucial Hilli sector (East Pakistan), displayed exceptional courage and tenacity.

His heroism is particularly remembered for two key moments:

  1. Defense of Hilli (May 19, 1971): Major Akram resolutely held his defensive position, successfully denying the enemy any tactical advantage through his unwavering leadership and steadfast defense.
  2. The Final Assault (December 3–5, 1971): Tasked with assaulting heavily fortified enemy positions, Major Akram advanced with unwavering resolve. During the advance, he single-handedly destroyed three enemy tanks before sustaining severe injuries. He continued fighting valiantly until he embraced Shahadat on December 5, 1971.

The immortal heroism of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit and professional excellence of Pakistan’s Armed Forces.
