Security forces successfully concluded a joint counter-terrorism operation in the Domel area of Bannu, resulting in the death of five terrorists and injuries to seven others. The operation, conducted by local police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Akbar Ali Khan Village, targeted militants associated with Fitna Al-Khawarij (TTP). Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the “timely and coordinated” action, which prevented a potentially larger attack in the mountainous region bordering North Waziristan.

In a separate, tragic incident on the same day, unknown armed assailants attacked a government check-post currently under construction in the Makin area of South Waziristan. During the assault, two labourers were injured and four others were abducted at gunpoint. All six victims reportedly belong to Dera Ismail Khan. Following the attack, security forces launched a massive search operation in Makin Bazaar and surrounding districts to recover the kidnapped workers, though no group has yet claimed responsibility for the abduction.
The surge in violence follows a report indicating that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa remains the hardest-hit province in Pakistan, accounting for nearly 68% of all violence-linked fatalities last year. While security forces have intensified intelligence-based operations, the abduction of construction workers highlights the persistent threat to infrastructure projects in the tribal belt. Authorities have tightened security at all regional checkpoints to prevent the abductors from crossing into unregulated territory.
