Operation in Quetta (Darakhshan)
Following credible intelligence regarding the presence of Indian proxy terrorists on the outskirts of Quetta, CTD teams launched a precision strike in the Darakhshan area. Upon arrival, the security forces were met with heavy fire, leading to a fierce gunbattle.
Eight terrorists belonging to the banned Fitna al-Khawarij were killed during the exchange. While the operation was successful, three CTD personnel sustained injuries and have been evacuated to a medical facility, where they are currently in stable condition. A massive cache of weapons, including grenades, ammunition, and explosive materials, was recovered from the site.
Operation in Barkhan
In a separate, simultaneous action based on fresh intelligence, CTD units targeted a hideout in the Barkhan district. During a swift counter-response to militant fire, six terrorists linked to the Indian proxy Fitna al-Hindustan were eliminated. Security forces remained unharmed in this encounter, seizing a significant quantity of arms and sabotage material intended for subversive activities.
National Leadership Commendations
The success of these operations has drawn high praise from the country’s top leadership:
- President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the CTD for its prominent role in safeguarding the nation. He emphasized that eliminating externally sponsored terrorism remains a top state priority and offered prayers for the recovery of the injured officers.
- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the professionalism of CTD Balochistan, noting their “key role in the war against terrorism” and expressing solidarity with the wounded personnel.
- Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi saluted the courage of the officers, specifically commending the neutralization of the Fitna al-Hindustan cell in Barkhan.
The CTD spokesperson reiterated that these operations are part of an ongoing, uncompromising campaign to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace to Balochistan. Investigation and surveillance efforts have been intensified across the province to prevent any retaliatory actions.
