Pakistan commemorated the first anniversary of its victory in the “Marka-i-Haq” (Battle of Truth) conflict with India at a ceremony held at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Sunday. Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir delivered a powerful address, underscoring Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to defending its sovereignty and regional stability.
“Marka-i-Haq: A Decisive Battle of Ideologies”
Field Marshal Munir emphasized the significance of May 10, 2024, marking the end of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, as a “source of pride” for Pakistan and its armed forces. He characterized the conflict as more than a traditional war, describing it as “a decisive battle between two ideologies, in which, thanks to Allah, the truth won and falsehood was met with defeat.”
Stern Warning to Adversaries
In a clear message to potential aggressors, Field Marshal Munir warned that any future “misadventure” against Pakistan would be met with an “extremely widespread, dangerous, far-reaching and painful” response. He stated, “Our enemies should know that if any attempt is made in the future to carry out a misadventure against Pakistan, then the impact of war would not be limited, but extremely widespread, dangerous, far-reaching and painful.”
Pakistan’s Diplomatic and Military Strength
The CDF highlighted Pakistan’s success on both the battlefield and the diplomatic front. He lauded the country’s leaders and representatives for effectively conveying Pakistan’s stance on the global stage and praised the Pakistani media and youth for countering enemy propaganda.
Field Marshal Munir asserted that Pakistan’s defense was “absolutely invincible in the face of any foreign aggression” and that the country was committed to maintaining the balance of power in the region. He emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces prioritize the protection of peace but remain prepared for war at all times.
Modernizing Pakistan’s Defense Capabilities
Recognizing the evolving nature of warfare, Field Marshal Munir outlined Pakistan’s efforts to modernize its defense capabilities, including the establishment of the Defence Forces Headquarters, expansion of the space program, and formation of the Army Rocket Force Command. He also mentioned the induction of Hangor-class submarines, acquisition of modern fighter jets, and the development of the Fatah missile series.
Addressing Regional Challenges
Field Marshal Munir addressed the issue of terrorism, stating that Pakistan had “only one demand from Afghanistan: to stop supporting Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan on the directives of India, and to completely eradicate the centers and safe havens of terrorism on its soil.”
Unwavering Support for Kashmir
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Kashmir, Field Marshal Munir stated, “Any story of Pakistan is incomplete without Kashmir.” He emphasized the need for a resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Tributes and Gratitude
Field Marshal Munir paid tribute to the martyrs of Marka-i-Haq, including women, the elderly, and children, and expressed gratitude to the president, prime minister, federal cabinet, political leadership, and the Pakistani nation for their unity and support.
