by | Dec 2, 2025

The Pakistan Army and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China formally inaugurated the ninth edition of their flagship bilateral counterterrorism exercise, Warrior-IX, at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Pabbi, on Sunday.

The two-week exercise focuses on enhancing interoperability, refining tactical skills, and exchanging best practices in modern counterterrorism operations, including urban combat, hostage rescue, drone countermeasures, and joint mission planning.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mangla Corps Commander Lieutenant General [name], PLA Western Theatre Command Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Bian Xiaoming, and senior officers from both armies.

Addressing the ceremony, the chief guests reaffirmed the “iron-clad” strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, describing Warrior-IX as a symbol of deepening military-to-military trust and shared resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms.

Since its inception in 2013, the Warrior series has grown in scope and complexity, reflecting the all-weather friendship and robust defence cooperation between the two nations. This year’s edition follows the successful conclusion of the Sea Guardian-2025 naval exercise and coincides with heightened CPEC Phase-II security cooperation.
