The Field General Court Martial (FGCM) proceedings initiated against Mr. Faiz Hameed, formerly a Lieutenant General in the Pakistan Army, have concluded, and the judgment was formally promulgated today, 11 December 2025.

The judicial process was initiated on 12 August 2024 and extended over a period of 15 months. The accused was tried on four substantive charges under the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act (PAA). These charges included:

  1. Engaging in political activities.
  2. Violation of the Official Secrets Act, deemed detrimental to the safety and interest of the State.
  3. Misuse of authority and government resources.
  4. Causing wrongful loss to various persons.

Following lengthy and rigorous legal deliberation, the Court found the accused guilty on all four charges. Consequently, the Field General Court Martial has sentenced the convict to fourteen (14) years of rigorous imprisonment.

The Field General Court Martial meticulously adhered to all mandatory legal provisions and military judicial procedures throughout the 15-month trial. The accused was afforded full legal rights, including the facility to engage a defence team of his choice. The convict retains the right to file an appeal before the relevant judicial forum as per the established legal framework.

It is further noted that the convict’s alleged involvement in fomenting vested political agitation and instability in cahoots with certain political elements, along with other related matters, is being addressed in separate, ongoing legal proceedings.
