Baku, November 8, 2025 – In a historic show of iron-clad brotherhood, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as Pakistani JF-17 Thunder Block-III jets roared in perfect formation over Baku’s Freedom Square during Azerbaijan’s fifth Victory Day parade.
For the first time ever, a foreign air force stole the show at Azerbaijan’s most sacred military ceremony, marking the liberation of Karabakh. The thunderous flypast by Pakistan Air Force pilots drew deafening applause from President Ilham Aliyev and thousands of Azeri citizens who waved both flags in unison.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar captured the nation’s pride in a single line: “Long live Pakistan-Azerbaijan friendship! Our troops and JF-17s owned the Baku sky today.”Yesterday’s one-on-one between PM Shehbaz and President Aliyev, with Field Marshal Munir prominently present, sealed fresh agreements on joint defence production, technology transfer, energy corridors, and counter-terrorism. President Aliyev accepted an invitation to visit Islamabad “at the earliest” and openly thanked Pakistan for standing rock-solid during the 44-day war.
Defence circles in Rawalpindi are buzzing: the JF-17 deal is now the flagship success story of Pakistan’s military export drive, with Azerbaijan already operating two squadrons and more orders in the pipeline.
From Indus Shield Alpha to Baku’s victory skies, the message is clear: Pakistan’s defence industry has arrived on the global stage, and Azerbaijan is its most trusted brother-in-arms.
