The JF-17 Thunder Block-III emerged as a major highlight at the Dubai Airshow 2025, drawing significant international attention and reinforcing Pakistan’s growing footprint in the global defence aviation market. In a key development, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed with a friendly country for the procurement of the advanced multi-role fighter jet, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s expanding defence partnerships.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), several countries expressed strong interest in acquiring the battle-proven aircraft, demonstrating rising confidence in Pakistan’s indigenous aviation industry. The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) showcased the JF-17 Thunder Block-III alongside the Super Mushshak trainer aircraft at the prestigious airshow being held at Al Maktoum International Airport from November 17 to 21.

The 4.5-generation JF-17 Block-III is equipped with advanced radar systems and beyond-visual-range missile capabilities, enabling it to perform a wide range of combat missions, including air superiority, ground attack, maritime strike and suppression of enemy air defences.

Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu also held high-level meetings with military leadership from friendly countries, including senior UAE defence officials, focusing on enhancing cooperation in training, aerospace technology and operational coordination. UAE military leadership praised PAF’s modernisation efforts and indigenous capabilities, expressing commitment to deeper collaboration through joint exercises and strategic partnerships.

Developed jointly by Pakistan and China, the JF-17 Thunder continues to serve as a cost-effective, highly capable fighter platform, currently operated by air forces in Pakistan, Nigeria, Myanmar and Azerbaijan, further strengthening its global standing.
