Security Forces and law enforcement agencies today confirmed two successful and targeted counter-terrorism operations in the Lower Dir and Bannu districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), reinforcing the nation’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability. These efforts are complemented by significant steps taken by local elders in Lakki Marwat to actively collaborate in policing the rural areas.
Targeted Airstrikes on Terrorist Hideouts in Lower Dir (Maidan)
A precision-guided operation was launched by security forces in the Maidan area of Lower Dir district, targeting confirmed terrorist hideouts and movement. Acting on intelligence reports indicating an increased presence of anti-state elements—especially following recent aggressive activities in the region—gunship helicopters were deployed.
The operation involved heavy, precise shelling lasting approximately one and a half hours, targeting areas including Sar Banda, Mulayano Banda, and Abdullah Banda.
While an assessment of the full extent of damage to terrorist capabilities is underway, the swift and decisive action underscores the zero-tolerance policy against the regrouping of proscribed organizations, such as those that historically operated in Maidan.
Security forces have strategically taken temporary positions in government facilities, including schools in Atto and Mulayano Banda areas, which were vacated ahead of the operation to ensure effective area dominance and surveillance.
NOTE: Local reports indicated that one child, who was present on a nearby hill, sustained minor injuries and was promptly shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Lal Qila for necessary medical attention. Security forces prioritize the safety of the civilian population during all operations.

Law Enforcement Eliminates Two Terrorists in Bannu
In a separate, successful action, police and specialized Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) commandos engaged in a fierce clash with terrorists in the Dil Mamashkhel area of Bannu district late on Thursday.
The joint law enforcement team was deployed following specific information regarding the presence of terrorists attempting to plant an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on a roadside within the limits of the Cantonment Police Station.
The terrorists opened fire upon being intercepted by the police. In the swift and courageous retaliatory fire, two terrorists were successfully neutralized. The remaining assailants managed to evade capture by exploiting the cover of thick bushes and dense, populated areas. This swift action prevented a potential attack and underscores the vigilance of KP Police and CTD in protecting public infrastructure and lives.

Lakki Marwat Elders Pledge Joint Action Against Criminality
In a powerful display of community resolve, elders from various rural areas of Lakki Marwat district convened a Jirga (traditional assembly) in the Masha Mansdoor area. The participants, representing over a dozen villages including Titterkhel, Omar Titterkhel, and Jhangkhel, unanimously vowed to intensify efforts to check and combat crimes and anti-peace activities in the district.
Key resolutions passed by the Jirga include:
- Zero Tolerance: Individuals involved in robberies and anti-peace activities will not be spared.
- Infrastructure Improvement for Security: Villagers will immediately begin pruning trees along link roads (such as the road from Umar Adda to Mandrakhel via Masha Mansoor) to eliminate hiding spots for criminals and enhance visibility.
- Community Defense Mechanism: The Chagha Party (armed civilian pursuit groups) will actively chase outlaws until they are apprehended, restoring safety to highways and rural roads.
- Collective Compensation: In a landmark commitment, elders of all participating rural areas have agreed to jointly compensate the family of any member of the Chagha Party killed or injured by criminals or terrorists during security efforts.
- Nighttime Vigilance: Youth have been tasked with guarding their villages and hamlets during the night to deter criminal elements.
The commitment shown by the elders of Lakki Marwat is a testament to the resilience of the Pakistani people and their crucial partnership with security forces in the collective fight for peace.
The security forces and law enforcement agencies remain dedicated to clearing all parts of the country from the threat of terrorism and criminality. Continued cooperation between the government, the armed forces, and local communities remains the cornerstone of achieving long-term peace and sustainable development across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
