Pakistan Navy and Royal Navy of Oman Successfully Conclude Bilateral Exercise THAMAR AL TAYYIB (TAT) 2025

The 12th edition of the Bilateral Exercise THAMAR AL TAYYIB (TAT) 2025 was successfully conducted in Karachi, following the visit of a Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) flotilla comprising ROYAL NAVY OF OMAN VESSEL AL RASIKH and AL SHINAS. The exercise was aimed at strengthening maritime security cooperation and deepening the longstanding bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Oman.

Exercise TAT-2025 served as a crucial platform for mutual learning, enhanced interoperability, and professional development between the two friendly navies. The TAT series of exercises has been conducted regularly since 1980, underscoring the enduring nature of the defense partnership, with the previous edition (TAT-2023) having taken place in Omani waters.

Key Activities and Engagement

The port phase of the visit included extensive professional interactions designed to facilitate deep engagement:

  • Diplomatic and Professional Dialogues: RNO personnel participated in call-ons with senior Pakistan Navy leadership.
  • Knowledge Exchange: Personnel from both navies engaged in operational discussions, professional dialogues, and exchanged experiences across various maritime domains.
  • Naval Installations Visits: The Omani delegation visited key naval installations and training facilities, enhancing their understanding of Pakistan Navy’s capabilities.

The visit culminated in the sea phase, where naval ships from both forces conducted advanced operational maneuvers and joint exercises. These complex drills encompassed major facets of modern maritime warfare, significantly enhancing combined operational readiness.
