8th Pakistan Navy Maritime Security Workshop Concludes in Lahore

The 8th edition of the Pakistan Navy’s Maritime Security Workshop (MSW) successfully concluded today at the Pakistan Navy War College in Lahore. The ceremony was graced by Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, who attended as the Chief Guest.

In his address, the Chief Guest emphasized the significant potential of Pakistan’s burgeoning blue economy and highlighted the growing strategic importance of oceans in the context of the 21st century. He extended high commendation to the Pakistan Navy for its pivotal role in actively contributing to regional maritime security and diligently safeguarding the nation’s vital maritime interests.

Chairman Gilani further stressed the imperative need to enhance the nation’s shipping and fishing sectors, noting their crucial contribution to economic growth and broader socio-economic development across the country.

Earlier upon his arrival, the Chief Guest was received by Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), Chief of the Naval Staff. Subsequently, the Commandant of the Pakistan Navy War College provided the audience and participants with a comprehensive briefing on the key activities and outcomes achieved during the workshop.

The annual Maritime Security Workshop is a key national initiative that brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including parliamentarians, policymakers, academics, entrepreneurs, Armed Forces officers, and media representatives. The workshop’s primary objective is to deepen national understanding of maritime security challenges and the continuously evolving geopolitical dynamics within the wider Indian Ocean region.
