Chief of Defence Force (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Asim Munir, visited the National Police Academy (NPA) today, where he delivered a keynote address to senior police leadership and the next generation of Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officers.

The Sacred Trust of Law Enforcement
Addressing the senior officials and Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), the Field Marshal underscored that a strong, professional, and people-centric police force is “indispensable” for the internal security and the preservation of the rule of law in Pakistan.
“The duty of the police to enforce law and order is a sacred trust,” the Field Marshal remarked. He further highlighted the pivotal role of the police as the primary shield for the citizenry, stating that the force acts as the “first line of defence” in safeguarding the lives, property, and honour of the people.
Unity of Effort and Institutional Support
Reaffirming the synergy between the country’s security institutions, the CDF assured that the Armed Forces would remain steadfast in their support for their counterparts in blue. He stated:
- The Armed Forces will always stand fully with the brave and proud police personnel of Pakistan.
- Internal security is a collaborative effort requiring seamless coordination between military and civil law enforcement agencies.
- The professional excellence of the police is central to the nation’s stability.
Tribute to the Shuhada
Upon arrival, Field Marshal Asim Munir laid a floral wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Monument. He offered Fatiha and paid solemn tribute to the Shuhada of the Police who have laid down their lives in the line of duty. He acknowledged the “supreme sacrifices” rendered by police personnel while combating terrorism, organized crime, and evolving internal security threats.
Modernization and Reforms
The Field Marshal was briefed on the School for High-Impact Elite Law Enforcement Development (SHIELD), alongside various modernization initiatives aimed at enhancing the professional capacity of the force. The senior police leadership reaffirmed their commitment to advancing institutional reforms to meet contemporary challenges.
Dignitaries in Attendance
Earlier, the CDF was presented with a formal Guard of Honour on arrival at the Academy. The ceremony was attended by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and the Commandant of the National Police Academy.
