Successful Live-Fire of LY-80 (N) Surface-to-Air Missile
A major highlight of the exercise was the successful live firing of the LY-80 (N) Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM). Launched from a Vertical Launching System (VLS), the missile engaged and neutralized a high-speed aerial target at an extended range. This successful engagement validates the long-range air defense umbrella of PN’s modern surface fleet, ensuring robust protection against diverse aerial threats.
Deployment of Loitering Munition (LM) and Precision Strikes
The exercise also featured the successful deployment of Loitering Munition (LM) against surface targets. The precision strike capability was demonstrated as the munitions successfully identified and destroyed simulated enemy surface assets. This highlights PN’s shift toward cost-effective, high-precision tools that offer a tactical edge in contested maritime environments.
Milestone Trials of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV)
Marking a significant leap in autonomous naval technology, the Pakistan Navy conducted successful open-sea trials of its Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV). The platform demonstrated:
- Extreme Maneuverability: Exceptional performance in high-speed navigation and precision course-keeping.
- Durability & Resilience: Validation of mission-critical performance under challenging sea states and weather conditions.
- Tactical Stealth: Operating as a low-risk, high-impact interceptor, the USV provides a stealthy solution for surveillance and kinetic operations.
Leadership Commendation
The exercises were witnessed by Commander Pakistan Fleet, who expressed satisfaction with the operational readiness of the deployed assets.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), T Bt, Chief of the Naval Staff, commended the officers and men for their exceptional professionalism and technical expertise. The Naval Chief reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s unwavering resolve to ensure the seaward defense of the motherland and to safeguard Pakistan’s national maritime interests against any aggression.
