Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Naveed Ashraf, recently concluded a successful visit to the United States of America, as part of the ongoing efforts to bolster bilateral maritime cooperation and defence engagements between the two nations.
During his visit, Admiral Naveed Ashraf held high-level meetings with key US defence officials. The Naval Chief called on:
- Vice Admiral Yvette Davids, US Deputy Chief of Naval Operations.
- Vice Admiral Thomas G. Allan Jr., Acting Vice Commandant of the US Coast Guard.
Discussions during these meetings focused on matters of professional interest, regional security dynamics, avenues for professional training, and enhanced maritime cooperation.
The CNS also engaged with civilian and academic leadership, underscoring the comprehensive nature of the defence relationship. His engagements included:
- A meeting with Vice Admiral Peter A. Garvin, President of the National Defence University (NDU), during his visit to the institution.
- A meeting with Mr. Stanley L. Brown, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, at the US State Department.
These deliberations encompassed politico-military cooperation, maritime security, capacity-building initiatives, and shared maritime interests crucial for regional stability.
Furthermore, Admiral Naveed Ashraf addressed a gathering of US scholars and think-tank experts, where he highlighted the regional maritime security challenges and detailed the Pakistan Navy’s significant contributions towards collaborative maritime security efforts.
