On this historic 23rd of March, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan marks the 86th anniversary of the Lahore Resolution—a day that redefined the destiny of South Asia. In a powerful address to the nation, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s journey from a nascent state to a nuclear power, while the Armed Forces reaffirmed their oath to safeguard the motherland’s “impregnable” frontiers.

This year’s celebrations carry a unique significance as the nation observes a strategic “temporary pause” in Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq for the holy month, following a series of decisive military victories that have solidified regional deterrence.

Prime Minister’s Message: A Vision of Resilience

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt congratulations to the nation, invoking the vision of Allama Iqbal and the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

  • Economic Turning Point: The Premier noted that despite global volatility, Pakistan’s economy is moving toward sustainable growth. “A consistent decline in inflation and increased investor confidence are evidence that our bold reforms and prudent policies are bearing fruit,” he stated.

  • The “Impregnable” Defense: He lauded the high professionalism of the law enforcement agencies. Reflecting on the past year, he cited Operation Bunyan-al-Marsoos and the current Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq as “golden chapters” where the enemy’s hostile designs were dismantled with “iron resolve.”

  • Global Diplomacy: The PM reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue and expressed full solidarity with the people of Palestine amidst the ongoing Middle East crisis.

Armed Forces’ Reaffirmation: Defense and Security

In a joint statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the leadership of the Armed Forces—led by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir (COAS/CDF), Admiral Naveed Ashraf (CNS), and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu (CAS)—paid tribute to the resilience of the Pakistani people.

  • Eradicating Threats: The ISPR maintained that the military remains steadfast in its mission to “eradicate threats to the country’s security,” citing the successful neutralization of over 700 operatives during recent border engagements.

  • Guardian of Sovereignty: The statement described March 23, 1940, as the “defining moment” that mirrors today’s collective determination to protect the country’s frontiers against all forms of aggression.

Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar provided an update on the temporary suspension of military operations, which concludes at midnight tonight (March 23/24).

  • The Eid Pause: Initiated at the request of “brotherly Islamic countries” including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye, the pause was offered in good faith and keeping with Islamic norms.

  • Operational Success: Prior to the pause, the Pakistan Army successfully targeted 81 locations, destroying 237 tanks and artillery pieces, and capturing 44 strategic posts used by insurgent groups.
