COAS FM Asim Munir Stresses Need for Civil-Military Synergy, and Inclusive Governance

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, today visited the flood-affected areas of Kasur and Multan to personally review the ongoing rescue and relief operations, with a strong focus on enhancing civil-military synergy to ensure effective assistance for the affected population.

During his visit, the COAS received a comprehensive briefing on the ground situation and the joint efforts being conducted by the Pakistan Army and the civil administration. He emphasized that the state cannot bear the loss of precious lives and properties every year, stressing the urgent need for a coordinated, people-centric approach to relief and rehabilitation. Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman and other senior officials of the civil administration were also present, highlighting the collaborative nature of the response.

While interacting with civilian officials, Field Marshal Munir underlined the importance of good governance and inclusive progress. He called for the expedited implementation of all necessary measures, including infrastructural development, to protect citizens from the devastating impact of frequent floods. The COAS reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at public welfare and underscored the significance of coordinated civil-military efforts in addressing the challenges faced by flood-affected communities.

The Army Chief also took the time to meet with flood affectees who had been safely evacuated by the combined efforts of the Pakistan Army and the civil administration. He assured them of continued support throughout their resettlement and rehabilitation process. The affected individuals expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Pakistan Army’s timely and steadfast assistance during this critical time.

Furthermore, the COAS met with troops, Rescue 1122 personnel, and police officials who are actively engaged in the relief operations. He lauded their high morale, operational readiness, and steadfast dedication to serving the nation under extremely challenging circumstances. He commended their round-the-clock efforts, carried out in close coordination with civil administration, to provide timely relief and assistance to those in need.

The COAS also conducted an aerial reconnaissance of the flood-affected areas along the Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala axes to assess the scale of the damage. His visit serves as a powerful testament to the Pakistan Army’s commitment to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the civil administration and the people of Pakistan in times of national crisis.
