Pakistan Air Force Celebrates the Birth Anniversary of War Hero Flt Lt (MWO) Sher Muhammad

On, April 20th, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) proudly commemorates the birth anniversary of Hon. Flt Lt (MWO) Sher Muhammad, a distinguished Ghazi of the 1965 War. His extraordinary courage and unwavering vigilance served as a vital shield for the PAF during a critical period in its history.

In 1965, then Cpl Tech Sher Muhammad was stationed at PAF Station Sargodha, manning a light anti-aircraft gun. On the morning of September 6th, after a night of selfless dedication to his duty, he detected six enemy Mystere aircraft initiating a low-level attack. Recognizing the imminent threat to PAF aircraft and the base, he acted decisively.

Despite facing intense strafing and rocket fire, Cpl Tech Sher Muhammad maintained his position, delivering accurate and relentless fire upon the enemy raiders. When one of the attackers targeted his position, he remained steadfast, continuing to fire with unwavering resolve. His exceptional marksmanship resulted in the downing of an enemy Mystere, causing the remaining aircraft to retreat and saving the base and its crucial assets from destruction.

For his exceptional gallantry and dedication to duty, he was awarded the Tamgha-e-Jurat.
