On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and former Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, held a pivotal high-level consultative meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ.

The meeting, held against the backdrop of the world’s most significant gathering of economic and political leaders, focused on Pakistan’s core strategic interests, national security, and its evolving role within the international geopolitical arena. This high-profile interaction underscores a robust and unified front between Pakistan’s civil and military leadership as they navigate complex global challenges and seek to secure the country’s economic future.

Strategic Consensus and National Narrative

The leadership discussed the importance of presenting a stable and investment-ready Pakistan to the global community. The trilateral engagement focused on leveraging the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) framework to attract foreign partnerships and reinforcing the nation’s commitment to regional stability.

Diplomatic Assessment: A “Responsible and Principled” Approach

Following these high-level deliberations, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari spoke to Pakistan TV Digital, providing a robust assessment of Pakistan’s diplomatic trajectory. The former Foreign Minister asserted that the nation’s global standing has been significantly bolstered.

“Pakistan’s responsible and principled diplomacy during recent global developments has strengthened its standing on the world stage,” Chairman Zardari stated. He noted that by adhering to international norms and engaging proactively in global forums, Pakistan’s voice is carrying greater weight in key geopolitical circles.

Regional Dynamics and Global Perceptions

Contrasting Pakistan’s rising profile with broader regional shifts, Chairman Zardari remarked on the shrinking international image of India. He observed that India’s global standing has faced a noticeable contraction in recent months, suggesting that New Delhi’s policy choices have led to a diminished reputation in the eyes of the international community.

Commitment to Global Partnerships

The Chairman concluded his engagements by reaffirming the Pakistan Peoples Party’s and the nation’s commitment to constructive global engagement. He emphasized that Pakistan remains focused on building sustainable partnerships that promote economic growth, climate resilience, and regional peace.
