RAWALPINDI — Pakistani security forces eliminated thirteen terrorists during two separate counter-terrorism operations along the border with Afghanistan. According to the military’s media wing, the engagements took place on April 28 and 29 in the districts of Mohmand and North Waziristan. In the first instance, troops detected and intercepted a group of infiltrators in Mohmand, resulting in eight fatalities among the insurgents. A second attempt to cross the frontier was successfully blocked in North Waziristan, where five more militants were killed following a heavy exchange of fire. The military identified the deceased as members of a foreign-sponsored extremist group and reiterated its call for better border oversight by the interim Afghan authorities.

Quick Facts

  • Thirteen terrorists were killed in two failed infiltration bids along the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border.
  • Security forces engaged eight insurgents in Mohmand District using precise tactical maneuvers.
  • Five additional terrorists were neutralized during a fierce gunfight in North Waziristan.
  • The military emphasized that the group involved receives significant external sponsorship.
  • The operations are part of the ongoing “Azm-e-Istehkam” national counter-terrorism campaign.
  • Clearance activities continue in the affected areas to ensure no further threats remain.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that these incidents highlight the continued failure of the Afghan administration to prevent its soil from being used for cross-border attacks. The state has urged the neighboring government to uphold its international responsibilities and stop its citizens from participating in violence against Pakistan.

The security forces remain firm in their resolve to protect the country’s territorial integrity. These operations reflect a broader strategy to systematically dismantle foreign-backed networks through the National Action Plan. Law enforcement agencies have vowed to maintain the pace of these high-intensity campaigns until the threat of militancy is entirely removed. The nation stands united behind the military as it works to secure the borders and ensure long-term regional stability.
